Light and Life, By Khalifa Gemma
January 10, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: Spirit is the source and the goal of all things, something towards which all are bound, to which all will return. It is that spirit which in religion is called God. And the best way of explaining this meaning of spirit is that it is like the sun, the center of all life, the divine spark in us.

Hazrat Inayat Khan: The Message & Self-Sacrifice
February 11, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: When we think deeply about the problem of life, there is no path in the world, whether spiritual or material, which we can tread successfully without a sacrifice. Sometimes the sacrifice is great, and sometimes small; sometimes the sacrifice is made first, before achieving success, and sometimes afterwards. As sacrifice is necessary in life, it is made by everyone in some form or other, but when it is made willingly, it turns into a virtue.

Sublime Surrender
February 26, 2023

Dervish Café
Hosted by Pir Moinuddin Clarke
Sufi Path of Awakening (FKA, Fraternity of Light)

There are two forces. One is the force which is all powerful Divine Will, and other is the force of an individual willpower. An individual goes on running as far the individual power allows, but there comes a time when the individual power is not enough. Then it is the all-powerful, which comes into conflict with the individual power. The question is how do we surrender our personal will to align with all powerful. This idea is so well expressed in the saying, "What one proposes, God disposes." The question is can come we to a deeper understanding that disappointments and challenges may be the Divine Will urging us surrender to the Sublime Will of God.

The Deeper Side of Life, The Mystical Meaning of the Cross
March 11, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: The cross which is usually taken as the symbol of the cross on which Christ died has many mystical meanings. It shows a vertical line and a horizontal line: everything that exists extends vertically and horizontally. This may be seen in the leaf: it has length and breadth. All that exists has come from these two lines, the vertical and the horizontal. The cross therefore, in its first meaning, is the symbol of manifestation.... There is another great mystery of the cross which is very little understood.

Become an Empty Cup, By Khalifa Gemma
April 11, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: The one who learns to tread the spiritual path must become as an empty cup in order that the wine of music and harmony may be poured down into their heart... Mystics therefore have adopted a different way. They have learned a different course, and that course is self-effacement or, in other words, unlearning what one has learned.

The Deeper Side of Life, The Inner Life
April 30, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: No one who has given a thought to the deeper side of life will deny for one moment the power and inspiration that arise when once the heart is kindled. A person with heart quality need not be simple, one need not discard intellect; only, the heart quality produces a perfume in the intellect like the fragrance in a flower.

The Hollow Boat, By Khalifa Gemma
February 14, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: Life is just like the ocean. When there is no appreciation, no receptivity, a person sinks like a piece of iron to the bottom of the sea. They cannot float like the boat which is hollow, which is receptive.

The Deeper Side of Life, The Art of Personality
May 20, 2023

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: Today we are expected to learn mathematics, geography, history and other things, but never the art of personality which is of the greatest use in life.If that is art then on this art much depends. If a person lacks manner they will be repellent; they may have all kinds of beautiful things in their shop, they will have no success.... The art of personality fulfills the purpose of life.

June 25, 2023

In the Words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: The five elements, earth, water, fire, air, and ether, as spoken of by the mystics, do not only compose germs, but can also destroy them, if one only knew how one could make use of those five elements to purify one's body also one's mind.

The Deeper Side of Life, The Essence of Purification
July 23, 2023

Dervish Café
Hosted by Pir Moinuddin Clarke
Sufi Path of Awakening (FKA, Fraternity of Light)

In the words of Hazrat Inayat Khan: As all that is foreign to the body does not agree with the body, making it ill, so all that is foreign to the mind disturbs the peace of the mind, and it is that which proves that it does not belong to the mind. From the book, The Kashf Al-Mahjub: Purification is of two kinds : outward and inward. Thus prayer requires purification of the body, and gnosis requires purification of the heart.
