Dear Friends,
This week, after returning from the Urs of Hazrat Inayat Khan in India, Murshid Sharif was to celebrate his birthday on February 23rd. God had other plans – another kind of celebration. A Heavenly Banquet awaited Murshid Sharif as he gently passed between this world into the Arms of the Beloved as he slept earlier this week.
A Personal Memory

My friend, the late Arifa Miller, loved Sharif. She had been collaborating with Sharif on the card set of Pir Vilayat's quotes titled, Alchemical Wisdom, and I had been invited to design the card set.
I remember the first time meeting with Sharif and Arifa over dinner at a wonderful little cafe in New Lebanon, New York. What was remarkable was the way Sharif's face radiated light and his voice spoke as if keeping a very special inner secret. His wit and intelligence were obvious hallmarks of his personality. We were destined to be friends.
Every time I reached out to Sharif with a question about Murshid's teachings, he was immediate and enthusiastic in his response. I knew I could always "lean into" him for answers - both literal and esoteric.
Thank you, friend of The Friend, for sharing your all with us in oh so many ways. Surely there is a great feast awaiting you with all the Murshids and Pirs in attendance to greet you! With my love, Nuria

Murshid Sharif as Archivist of the Nekbakht Foundation
Murshid Sharif was a dedicated Mureed who gifted us and generations to come as the Nekbakht Foundation Archivist for many years. He organized and published the lectures of Hazrat Inayat Khan, years 1922-1925 (commonly referred to as the Brown Volumes) including the volumes titled Sayings Part 1 and Sayings Part 2.
